Watch What THE HUNGER GAMES Might Have Been Like With The Director Of FAME

The Hunger Games was a pretty massive hit, both critically and financially. It grossed nearly $700M worldwide and holds an 84% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. Gary Ross directed the movie, and gave it this sort of indie-feel, but he will be replaced by I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence for the sequel, Catching Fire. I did feel that the movie should have had a heavier science-fiction feel and could have been more gritty and focus on the psychological horror aspect of the Hunger Games.

Well, maybe just do it better for the last two.

Anyway, movie pitches are something rarely seen by the general public. The most notable pitch that went online (from it’s director too) was for Joe Carnahan’s vision of the Daredevil reboot. Kevin Tancharoen, a dancer-turned-director who did the most recent Fame remake, sent a pitch to Lionsgate for The Hunger Games, but obviously lost out to Gary Ross. His vision plays heavily on sci-fi and visuals and horror. Watch it below:

Now I don’t know about you, but I thought that was pretty f*cking awesome. And I think I would have preferred Kevin’s movie. This makes me want to go out and write a dystopian sci-fi script. Anyway, what did you think of it? Sound off below.

Panem had kind of a Blade Runner feel.
It definitely would have been a different movie. If they could make it this
gritty and still get a PG-13, it would have been a better movie than the one we
got. As much as I like the Hunger Games, I thought it was a little too vanilla
    and way too safe.
