Was Emma Frost Cut From DAYS OF FUTURE PAST?

The internet is all abuzz with news that January “Draper Problems” Jones won’t return as Emma Frost in the next X-Men flick, DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. If you can remember the previous installment (and semi-reboot) First Class, Jones was one of the lead antagonists.  Her character falls through a series of conflicts until she eventually allies herself with Magneto, after he ascended to “Main Baddie” status.

Her character was treated with healthy consideration and was far more developed than other members of the supporting cast, so it seems strange that FOX wouldn’t want her back in the saddle for the sequel.

Here’s what she had to say:

“I don’t know that I’m in it, I don’t think Emma’s in this one. Well they haven’t told me if I am (laughs). I wouldn’t put it past them though, I got the script for the first one on the airplane on the way there. It’s called Days of Future Past I think, and I think it’s more about James and Michael and then Patrick and Ian, and I think it’s gonna go back and forth with those so I don’t think Emma’s in those bits. I don’t know, I really don’t know.”

I can only imagine one reason for this: Bryan Singer’s already over-bloated the cast. The once and future director has taken to Twitter in recent weeks to announce a horde of returning actors (Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman and the like) and after all those thespians are comfortably on the payroll, there might not be room remaining for Jones.
