Tim Burton’s BATMAN Receives A New DVD/Blu Ray Treatment

On November 11th for the price of twenty five dollarsl you can pick up the Diamond Luxe Edition of Batman.  I have no idea what the hell this is supposed to mean.  This edition is being billed as the 25th Anniversary Edition and part of the company’s celebration of Batman’s 75th anniversary.  Aside from the previous special features on the last DVD/Blu Ray release this version will also include a short piece on the film’s marketing and merchandising, “Batman: The Birth of the Modern Blockbuster.  This is not the coolest special feature, and I also resent it.

batman-blu-rayThe last release of this film included the first three installments of documentary series Shadows of the Bat: The Cinematic Saga of the Dark Knight.  The remaining episodes ran through Returns, Forever and Robin.  This is still the definitive Batman film documentary, and even includes bits on marketing.  If Warner Brothers wanted to give us something new and cool it would be episodes of Batman the Animated series, maybe a few from the soon to be released Batman 66.  Hell it would even work as piece of marketing.  My advice, skip this new edition and if you need to add Batman 89 to your collection pick up that last release, it has everything you’re going to want.
