READ AHEAD AT YOUR OWN RISK!

OK, so it’s nearly here people. The premiere for The Avengers took place last night and a number of bloggers/movie critics were invited along to watch it. In case you hadn’t already guessed, their reaction was EXTREMELY positive. But anyway, they have also confirmed something: The identity of Loki’s army. Truth be told, I really didn’t want to read the spoiler. But it accidentally got spoiled for me by somebody else, and once I found out I wasn’t really that bothered. Since around December 2010, we have been speculating vigorously about who Loki’s army are in The Avengers. I can’t even begin to tell you how many suggestions we’ve come up with, and I really didn’t expect to say this when the truth was revealed but……….. None of those guesses were right.

Well I might as well then. The most popular choice (albeit a little earlier in the production) was undoubtedly the Skrulls. There were countless spoilers and rumors saying that the Skrulls would be the villains etc, and then that all turned out to be false and later on we seemed to be getting the same amount of spoilers but they were DEBUNKING that rumor. Then everything got a little messy. People were leaning towards the Chitauri but then that suggestion kind of went away, and people definately thought that the Annihilation Wave would be the aliens. Instead of me going on for hours and making this a really long post, I’ll just sum it up by saying basically the majority of the alien races in the comics were under consideration at some point.

If you REALLY want to know who they are and just get it over and done with, then highlight the text below. If you want to stay clear and have it be a surprise for the movie, then leave now. But you really won’t technically have to wait long – reports say their identity is revealed in the first minute of the movie. Well, there you have it folks. The speculation can officially end now. To give you some consolation, we geeks were kind of right when speculating. They’re not the Skrulls, but another version of the Skrulls. Personally, I wanted it to be either the Skrulls, Kree, Deviants or Thanosi. If this is true then the Chitauri have been HEAVILY re-designed to fit the screen, or is their true appearance hidden and they have shape-shifted into what we saw in the trailers?
