Well it looks like The Dark Knight Rises is breaking records two months before it’s release. Market Watch report that Nolan’s last Batman flick will have the most IMAX footage ever seen in a movie. Unsurprisingly, #2 on the list is The Dark Knight, with 40 minutes while The Dark Knight Rises will have about an hour, if not more.
As a massive fan of IMAX, I think it’s great that a ton of the movie will consist of IMAX footage. As the site notes, many movies coming out this summer have been converted into the format – such as The Amazing Spider-Man, Men In Black III, The Avengers and Dark Shadows – so it’s really the same situation with 3D. The majority of 3D/IMAX movies are converted into the format to make the studios money, and it’s rare that movies like Nolan’s movies embrace it.
