As well as becoming the third highest-grossing film domestically earlier this morning (passing The Dark Knight), Disney has now revealed via Deadline that Marvel’s The Avengers has toppled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II for the spot of third highest-grossing film of all time! Unfortunately, there’s no chance in hell it will pass Titanic let alone Avatar as it would have to make another $700m worldwide. But still, this absolutely bloody fantastic news for Disney and Marvel and comic book fans in general, and if something like this can make that much, think how much dough the sequel and the upcoming solo movies will pull in!
It is yet to be released in Japan (it is released in August over there) and as we aren’t even 2 months into the movie’s release (and it’s been less than a month since the superhero team-up of a life time’s domestic release) so the money won’t stop here.
