THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2’s ELECTRO is an L.A. Gangster!

I think we all raised an eyebrow when they reviled the first glimpses of Electro from THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN 2. We see him completely bald and glowing blue like an Avatar. Even sporting what looks like a SD card stuck in his head, but apparently now, he also has roots in the L.A. crime underground.

Jamie Foxx has taken the role to a personal level, saying he actually got some of his inspirations for Electro’s personality from his experiences with a Los Angeles gang member.

“I was in LA. I was young, up and coming […] but I really wasn’t famous then. These guys were messing with me and I asked this gangster dude to help me out with it. When I did I was indebted to him. Every club I’d go to, it’d be “Hey, you gonna get me in the club with you?” I’d say, “I can only get in one…” “I got nine.” So, I’d have to pay to get them in. […] I take the same sensibility of that gangster that was chasing me in LA and I want him to be the guy that is chasing Spider-Man.”

Foxx is very excited to be a part of the movie, and wants to make his Electro believable and a complex character. Hopefully he does, because the sequel has a lot riding on his performance, and has potential to be even better than the first. So who knows, we might just see Spider-Man get into some real serious gang wars, with maybe even a drive by or two. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
