THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2: Parker vs Osborn, The Battle of the Bullies!

Last summer, I watched The Amazing Spider-Man hoping to see the Peter Parker I love- a neurotic, dweeb-faced outcast. The Peter Parker in the reboot, portrayed by Andrew Garfield, was not a dork at all- he was a emo, hipster, who treated Aunt May like crap, and bullied others.

Set photos from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, taken yesterday in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood, show Parker and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) hanging out and acting all buddy buddy. The two are pictured throwing rocks, which reminds me of being pelted with change in my high school’s hallway. These photos made me think; which bully would have wooped me worse, Parker or Osborn?

The first thing my nerdometer notices is Parker’s “hip” fancy, uppity hair, I’m pretty sure his hair alone puts him 500% above me on the social totem pole. Parker could easily call (the alternate reality high school version of) me any number of slurs and I would quickly walk away from him with my head down, tears in my eyes, and the feeling of self-hatred running through my veins.

In the film, Parker even bullies the bullies!

Osborn, on the other hand, is much dorkier looking with his schmucky haircut. Upsettingly, he has enough money that he dresses way cooler than (high school) me, and can just buy his friends. Osborn has always been insecure, so I would anticipate him picking on my scrawny, comic reading behind to help him feel better about himself. I am pretty sure he would also pay his friends to laugh at my expense.

In the battle of bullies, who would win: Osborn or Parker?
