The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Hires Writers

We’re a little over two months away from the release of Sony’s Spidey reboot, and in a bout of studio hubris, they’ve already decided to hire a pair of writers for their sequel, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to be exact. The two are probably best known for aiding J.J. Abrams in his first Star Trek film (yes, in case you haven’t heard by now, he’s making another!), which only bodes well for this Amazing Spider-Man followup.  Although, they do have a bit of a black mark on their record from working on Transformers 2, but we won’t hold that film against them, especially since they were forced to leave the project during the writers’ strike.  The pair had this to say abou their involvement:

“We grew up as huge Spider-Man fans so, to us, the opportunity to work on this film is akin to being handed the Holy Grail. We love the direction Sony and the filmmakers are taking the Peter Parker/Spider-Man mythology and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this legendary franchise.”

Unambitiously titled as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (or, at least that’s how everyone’s referring to it), the flick is set for release May 2, 2014, so we’ve still a while to wait. What do you think of this news? Is it awesome? “Meh”? Sound off.
