SILVER SURFER Movie Is On It’s Way Says STAN LEE

Can you hear that?

That’s the sound of a fat, bearded, fanboy jumping up and down in his apartment, taking a glorious swig from a half emptied bottle of Jim Beam (rye, thank you). And it burns, oh so sweetly.

Silver Surfer is my absolute favorite character from the wide world of comics. The perfect mixture of Doctor Strange‘s soul searching mysticism and Thor‘s cosmic adventures, the Surfer comics rest ontop of my stack of frequently revisited books (with J. Michael Stracynski’s Silver Surfer: Requiem as the very best).

I’ve waited for a proper movie for damn near 12 years, ever since Wizard announced the flick’s plans in one of their offhanded articles regarding upcoming Marvel adaptations. Well, I suppose we received one in the form of Tim Story’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but besides that Johnny Storm vs. Surfer scene at the beginning (which still stands as one of the best comic book movie moments of all time), the rest of it was a bust.

Well, Stan Lee’s let slip that a Silver Surfer movie might be on its way. Check out what the venerable Stan said below:

“MTV GEEK: What are some upcoming Marvel movies you know about and – because you’re partial to the Silver Surfer – do you think he’ll ever get a standalone film?

LEE: Well, let me put it to you this way: Back at Marvel, they are frantically looking for what is the next one they’re going to do. There is no way they won’t eventually do a Silver Surfer movie. It may not be for a few years because they’re thinking and working on Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy. Everything we have. And the fans seem to want all of them. But they’ll get around to a Silver Surfer feature because he’s a wonderful character.”

The movie would have to be part of Fox’s Marvel Universe, which would include (at the very least) the Fantastic Four, if it doesn’t envelop the X-Men as well.

What do you think? Are you on board for this?
