Shortlist Of Actors For Star-Lord In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Released

It’s about time we got some more news on this movie. Deadline have broke the shortlist of actors who have signed deals to screen test as Peter Quill/Star-Lord ahead of the August 2014 release date for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. You’ll probably recognize a fair bit of them, especially James Marsden who’s already co-starred in a few other superhero flicks (as Cyclops in X-Men and the unknowing step-father of Clark Kent’s bastard in Superman Returns).

Check out this nifty little image below for the full list of candidates:

Top Row (L-R) Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey)

Bottom Row (L-R) Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables), Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom)

Who do you think best fits the role? I’ve always felt that James Marsden was never given a fair shake in the X-Men films. He could have been an incredible Cyclops/Scott Summers, but he was relegated to “Wolverine fodder” instead. I’m not sure if Marsden is the best person for the job, but it would be nice to see him given another shot.

Garrett Hedlund is another great candidate.  He really gives off an 80’s, young hero vibe, similar to “The Last Starfighter”, but I’ll still vote for Marsden on this one… I just love the guy.
