Say My Name! “Lex Luthor?” You’re Goddamn Right!

Wouldn’t ya know it? After suffering a few healthy weeks of unsubstantiated rumors courtesy of SDCC announcements, we’ve created a self fulfilling prophesy.

If you remember the gossip of yester-week, Breaking Bad veteran Bryan Cranston was said to be Warner Brothers’ first choice for the bald baddie of Metropolis, Lex Luthor, in Batman vs Superman. While we never received word from WB officials to support that tall tale, Cranston himself has decided to chime in on the subject, saying

“Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he’s misunderstood. He’s a lovable, sweet man.”

Cranston as Luthor? I can dig it.

He’s certainly proved himself a capable super villain as the international Meth Emperor, Walter White, which was a shocking role for the thespian, especially since viewers were so accustomed to his hilarious antics as Hal in Malcolm in the Middle.

Although, I not-so-secretly wish that director Zack Snyder will select an altogether original choice, similar to Heath Ledger’s Joker. We’re already accustomed to Cranston’s evil antics.  And… as much as I hate to say it, I think The Dark Knight‘s iteration of the clown villain was so successful because of the shock value.

What devilry is this!?!?!? That cute guy from A Knight’s Tale is so mean!!!

Let’s give another actor that opportunity. How about Bradley Cooper? His headache induced tirades in the Hangover series were a tinge maniacal… perfect for Luthor.
