RUMOUR: Captain America 2 Will Explore Black Widow and Hawkeye’s Origins

The Marvel news just keeps on coming. Days after Marvel revealed their upcoming slate, including sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and began talks with Anthony Mackie for the role of Falcon, it’s now been rumoured that The Winter Soldier will be charting Black Widow and Hawkeye’s backstory, meeting and origins in flashbacks.

This news pretty much discounts rumors of a Black Widow/Hawkeye prequel if it is true, which is, to be honest, not really preferable. But done right, I’m pretty excited to see the origins of these two characters (I’m not familiar with their comic incarnations) on screen, but only if it means that we get plenty of Cap action.

Do take this with a grain of salt, however, as Marvel are far more likely to opt for the more profitable solo movie option than make it a subplot in another movie. Stay tuned to UTF for more news as we receive it…
