Movie Hulk is SOOOOOOO Gay!

I recently came across a beautiful picture of a compassionate Bruce Banner tenderly embracing Tony Stark. Tony’s ark reactor is glowing brighter than ever before! In this picture, I saw many things I don’t see in many comic book couples- sensitivity, tenderness, but above all, true love. In Banner’s yearning for his lover, I realized without a doubt, Movie Hulk is sooooo gay.

Perhaps Hulk’s main source of anger has nothing to do with being enraged or agitated, but instead repressing sexual urges. In the Avengers flick from last summer, Banner was hiding out in a third world country with his anger under control. Let’s face it, most developing countries are not the best places to go to feel serenity. Banner was able to control his anger when he found true love. He was still hulking out, but with a handsome foreign caramel-tanned lover. Bruce Banner looooves to get his swirl on!

In fact, his seeming obsession with Betty for all those years was either a denial of his Homosexuality, or he was putting on a front. Banner was not yet ready to come out of the closet and Betty was his “Beard”. For those who do not know, a “Beard” is the person in a relationship with a homosexual, to help conceal his or her true sexual orientation (i.e., Kanye West’s girlfriend, Kim or Miguel’s fiancée… Come on guys, enough already! We all love you and your music, but it is time for you to join the correct team.) We all know Betty was not right for Banner and he was wasting his time seemingly obsessing over her. All his efforts to “control” his sexual urges were killing him, and a lot of others. Luckily, Hulk has found true love, a love deeper than any he could have had with Betty. This love is with a dude who is a guy, a dude guy.

The question is: Would the Avengers accept Banner as a proud gay man? The comic version of the Avengers does not have the best history of taking in gay members; although, one of the best gay couples in comics is featured in the Young Avengers. In this series, Captain America and the Avengers accepted an openly gay relationship between Wiccan and a great character ironically named, The Hulkling. I am hopeful that the movie version of the Avengers would be as accepting to Hulk’s homosexuality. After all, Agent Coulson is a highly respected and prominent member of SHIELD.

Iron Man, on the other hand, is probably not gay. (In fact, I’m pretty sure he is not gay a few times a day with multiple women.) Maybe, it’s because he never thought about men as an option, or dreamed about how great it would be to finally see Banner’s Hulk. Or maybe he did think about. In the Avengers movie, he kept trying to entice Banner to let him play with his big green monster. I think it would be a wonderful thing.
