MICHAEL ROOKER Never Crosses Paths with KAREN GILLAN in Guardians of The Galaxy

Michael Rooker, the actor responsible for bringing the very redeemable Merle (The Walking Dead) to the small screen, has revealed a handful of tidbits about his latest interstellar role as Yondu in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

First things first, he’d like all of you to know that his makeup was amazing.

“My make-up was fabulous! It was stunning, really. It’s beautiful – it’s really pretty amazing stuff. I’m just taken back by how talented the make-up artists are.”

And in response to Karen Gillan’s comments last week, that everyone in the galactic romp is a bad guy of some sort, Rooker said:

“I don’t know if everybody’s a bad guy! Not everybody’s a bad guy, I think Gunn likes to mix it up. In a way her statement is probably correct, but not ‘bad’… there’s variations, there’s grey areas going on there. My guy Yondu is a bit of a cad, so I’m having a really good time playing the role. I had no scenes with Karen at all – the closest we came was at San Diego Comic-Con when she showed everyone she’d shaved her head.”

What a shame! Two fan favorite actors like Rooker and Gillan deserve a bit of shared screen space, even if their characters belong on opposite sides of the universe. Rooker’s very blue Yondu was a member of The Guardians of the Galaxy at certain points in the comic books, but I don’t believe he’ll join the team in this cinematic iteration, which is based on a revamped version of the team. Karen Gillan will portray the bald, kinda cyborgy granddaughter of Thanos, the Mad Titan. He’s the big purple bad guy from the end of The Avengers, so any relation of his could potentially be featured in future Marvel movies.
