Metallo One Of The Villains In BATMAN VS SUPERMAN?

We recently got confirmation that Israeli actress Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman, alongside Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman in Batman Vs Superman. There was also a small mention of The Flash being involved as well. An old villain rumor is being resurrected from days of Man of Steel‘s production. LatinoReview has tweeted the name Metallo, which could be a tease to one of the villains. The website is known for villain scoops, it’s very possible it could be true this time around. In the early days of casting Man of Steel, actor Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica) had been rumored for the role of Matello, that didn’t turn out to be true. So, take this new rumor with a grain of salt.

Aussie actor Callan Mulvey (Captain America: The Winter Solider, 300: Rise of An Empire, The Hunter, Zero Dark Thirty) was linked today by Variety, as a candidate to play an unnamed villain. Lex Luthor has been mentioned for the sequel, and was setup in Steel with LexCorp. There had been chatter that LexCorp might get ahold of the discarded Kryptonian armor/weapons and use it for his own means.

This could lead to Lex building his iconic power-suit or using the armor to build Matello. We’ve already heard that Henry Cavill wants to see Cyborg eventually. Perhaps, introducing S.T.A.R. Labs (owned by LexCorp?) as the birthplace of both Matello, could be a way to push forward Cyborg in future films. Since Labs was also one of the Easter Eggs in the first film. It’s more than likely Cyborg won’t be showing up, as we already have enough heroes. However, this all depends on the size of the roles of Wonder Woman and The Flash.

Before Bryan Singer’s poorly received Superman Returns, J.J Abrams was working on his own version of the reboot. His film titled, Superman: Flyby involved a Kryptonian brawl on Earth, similar to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Above is concept artwork were Clark is facing a Kryptonian battle suit. The setting in the artwork is actually Gotham, not Metropolis, as you can see Wayne Tower in the background. Could we see Snyder take more cues from the abandoned Superman: Flyby?
