Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Gets Another Cast Addition

It was announced a few weeks ago that Clark Gregg will reprise his role as Agent Coulson to headline Marvel’s SHIELD show, although beyond that we have no idea who the other characters will be. A while back a casting call leaked with character names and descriptions (they were all new), but it didn’t include Coulson so I disregarded it as a rumour. But now Deadline are reporting that actress Ming-Na Wen (ER, A Town Called Eureka, Mulan) has joined the cast as ‘Agent Melinda May’.

The character is described as “soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty.” May was listed in the casting breakdown as ‘Agent Althea Rice’ AKA ‘The Cavalry’, who many thought was a secret codename for Carol Danvers. Obviously we now know it’s not, but regardless, it’s nice we’re already getting casting news.
