MARVEL Studios Has Movies Planned Through 2028!

Marvel Studios has been known to have their slate of films planned years in advance, but this is taking it to a whole new level! In an interview with Business Wire, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that their plans for future Marvel movies stretch well past a decade, as evidenced by a map of films in Feige’s office.

It’s like looking through the Hubble telescope. You go, ‘What’s happening back there? I can sort of see it. They printed out a new one recently that went to 2028.

I’m all for more Marvel movies, but the MCU being around in 14 years is weird to think about. Not that it isn’t possible to produce that much material, I just have trouble seeing so many years ahead. Anything past Avengers 3 is difficult for me to imagine.

While they’re just ideas that this point, the studio is pouring a lot of thought into said ideas. Disney CEO Bob Iger has been talking with Feige about following routes similar to The Avengers, introducing new characters, and a spinoff or two.

Iger would like to replicate the success of The Avengers with other Marvel teams. He says Marvel could potentially spin off members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, which include Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon, in their own features.

Iger and Alan Horn, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, recently met with the Marvel team to talk about new heroes who will be introduced in Age of Ultron and could be spun off in their own films as well. Iger declines to name them. “The possibilities are endless,” he says.

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy

While I’m sure Guardians of the Galaxy will be a kick-ass and amazing movie, it’s no secret that when it was announced, a lot of people were surprised. There are other characters who are just as deserving of a movie, and they gave it to a group of characters people barely know about? Again, I’m sure the movie will be great, but spinning off some of the characters is going too far. By all means, green-light Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but don’t give a solo movie to the talking raccoon. If you want to expand your cosmic universe, give Adam Warlock or Nova a movie.

More Avengers spinoffs are a great idea. Eventually these Thor and Captain America trilogies will end, giving Marvel the opportunity introduce new characters to the unfamiliar audience. Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Vision, Inhumans, even an Iron Patriot spinoff. The possibilities are endless! By the way, Marvel, it’s never to late to restart your Hulk solo films.
