Marvel Casts Two More Leads For The S.H.I.E.L.D. Pilot

As filming for Marvel’s SHIELD gears up for a January filming date, more and more news about the project is pouring in. So far, we know that Clark Gregg will be reprising his role as Agent Coulson and that Ming-Na Wen will play Melinda May, and now THR report that relatively unknown actors Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain de Caestecker have joined the pilot in two more lead roles.

Henstridge is set to portray Agent Gemma Simmons, a budding scientist, and de Caestecker will play Agent Leo Fitz, a technology fan. The duo spend “all their time together — mostly bickering — and are masters at a remarkably young age of ┬átheir respective fields.” In classic Whedon fashion, a romantic relationship between the two will probably quickly develop… Prompting one of them to be killed off.
