MAN OF STEEL Loses To IRON MAN 3 on Rotten Tomatoes

With a paltry 69% on the website so gloriously named for putrid fruit (Rotten Tomatoes, that is), it doesn’t seem like ol’ Kal-El can surpass the lofty 78% of the other metallic superhero flick of the summer, IRON MAN 3. Which isn’t to say that the flick is a disappointment, although I’m sure the higher ups at Warner Bros would beg to differ.  To make matters worse, the aggregate score will probably suffer more as we approach the release date as the rest of the world lets loose with a deluge of reviews.  According to the main geeky sites (IGN being the most influential), Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL is one of the greatest superhero films of all time, with action scenes that are…

…arguably more epic than what The Avengers offered, particularly during the attack on Metropolis.

And I’d take their word over any of the snobby brandy sniffing “critics”. I bet they’re all gathered in a fancy club house room right now, knee deep in their trendy $8 macchiatos (spiked with cinnamon schnapps), snidely casting derision towards Superman’s reboot. I hate all of you.

Well, that’s not true (and I definitely don’t want to encourage any scary backlash like last year’s Avengers fiasco), but I do wish that you’d start judging superhero origin films according to the fact that they’re SUPERHERO ORIGIN FILMS! There’s not much room for movement within those small boundaries, and unless you want to parody the genre or completely disregard the classic story archetypes, can you really blame it for being unoriginal?
