LUKE SKYWALKER Won’t Fight in STAR WARS EPISODE 7 if Hamill Has His Way

I’m sure Mark Hamill was only kidding about this latest revelation, (or, at least, I hope so) but the old war dog recently revealed that he doesn’t really like fighting onscreen. No, not even when it involves those toasty, woasty lightsabers. He said as much in an interview when asked about returning to the big screen in STAR WARS EPISODE 7

“Heavy on the Jedi mind tricks, less on the lightsaber duels. That one in Empire nearly killed me! Six weeks I’m being beaten within a n inch of my life on a daily basis! It was awful! And then it’s cut down to like six minutes. ‘Eh, it’s no big deal.’”

I can understand his trepidation, especially considering how much famed fencer Bob Anderson slashed and stabbed him in RETURN OF THE JEDI (Anderson was actually the guy in the Vader suit for that fight, not David Prowse).

BUT…. I still need to see some fighting.  If there’s one tease in the Original Trilogy that never actually received a proper resolution, it’s the allusions to Luke’s future as the first of a new breed of Jedi. He’s meant to be a bad ass, sword swinging ronin, touring the galaxy in his X-Wing, hand selecting force sensitive life forms to rebuild the Order. Not some dude who cuts in front of the cafeteria line “These ARE the potato knish I’m looking for”.
