Another supporting cast member from Guardians of The Galaxy has been revealed. British actress Laura Haddock (Da Vinci’s Demons, Strike Back) has confirmed she’ll be playing Meredith Quill to DiaboliqueMagazine during NYCC. The character is the mother of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty, Jurassic World, Five-Year Engagement, Parks And Rec). Laura had a small cameo in Captain America: The First Avenger, playing a young woman asking for Steve’s autograph (could there be a link?). It’s expected Laura’s scenes will be set in the 1980’s, when Peter is a young child. However, she does mentioning working with Pratt. It’s possible she might also have scenes with a grown up Star-Lord.

Screen shot 2013-12-04 at 8.12.05 PM“Yes, I got an opportunity to go in and do a part in that movie,” she gushed. “It was amazing working with James Gunn and Chris Pratt. It was one of the most brilliant jobs because it’s huge! My part is very personal, very important to the story, but quite a small part. But [still] very important certainly to [Star-Lord’s] journey. I don’t know much I can say it’s very different to anything I’ve ever done. It’s a complete opposite of anything I’ve ever done.”

This could be the first hint, that Marvel might end up re-using actors for other roles in future films. Idris Elba and Zachary Levi have been linked to talks with Marvel Studios for other roles in the MCU. Guardians of The Galaxy‘s trailer is expected to be attached to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, it could also make an early splash at the Super Bowl. The main cast includes Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Batista, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Djimon Honsou, Ophelia Lovibond and Peter Serafinowicz. Guardians will be released on August 1st, 2014.
