JURASSIC PARK 4 Sounds Like A Horror Movie

I’m not sure why, but whenever I reminisce on the awesomeness of Steven Spielberg’s first foray into resurrected Dino’s in the original Jurassic Park, I don’t fixate on the insanely scary, underwear-staining scenes. I only remember the spectacle of live action Tyrannosaurus and Raptors, majestic crane shots of boomerang headed dinosaurs in an open field (I wonder what their proper name is), and Newman’s annoying password protection animation. And because of these wayward fascinations, I’ve neglected one key element of the franchise: they’re horror flicks. Maybe not pure, blood curdling, bone chilling genre fodder, but JP certainly has its fair share of horror tropes.

So, when I heard the most recent updates about JURASSIC PARK 4 from USA Today, I was stoked. Excited. Nerdgasmic. The article repeatedly referenced the original JP, and concluded that this new sequel will emulate the original. There’s even a new Dino involved in the flick:

Sequel hype. Details are scarce about Jurassic Park 4, which Spielberg will executive-produce and Colin Trevorrow will direct. But count on a new, previously extinct creature rising to stardom.

“I can’t actually tell you who that will be,” says Horner, who will consult on the new film. “But you’ll want to keep the lights on after you see this movie.”

What do you think? Has the sun set on this franchise? Or are you ready to give it another go? As long as Doctor Grant returns to the franchise (and at bare minimum, a Goldblum cameo) I’m on board for this trip down memory lane.

Just can’t get enough…
