JURASSIC PARK 4 Once Had Mutant Dinosaurs With Guns!

Jurassic Park 4 has circled the fiery gates of development hell for the better part of the last decade, and while the feint wisps of deets have been uncannily scant for such a large project, it’s never fully departed from fandom’s silver screen wishlist. It’s that one film that we’re all kinda, sorta interested in, but not enough that our life’s are ruined because of it (I’m looking at you Phantom Menace).

It’s the type of movie that’s always accompanied by some fabricated rumor, started by your geeky neighborhood gossip hound.

“Oh, dude… I totally heard they’re releasing JP 4 next year. It’s gonna have 10x as many gymnastics scenes, 3x as much Goldblum giggling & snarling, and a dinosaur penis” – Steve Lemlek, March 2009

Well, today we’ve managed to get our hands on some actual goodies from the first round of the project, and they’re… mindblowing?

Apparently, JP 4 originally featured Dino-Men. Half man. Half dinosaur. All awesome.

Here is some of the official concept art:

Here’s a break down of the script from redditor Sketchampm:

Back in 2005, William Monahan and John Sayles wrote a script for Jurassic Park 4 in which a secret genetics lab has been cross-breeding humans with dinosaurs. The result is an army of grotesque and intelligent humanoid dino freaks with problem-solving intelligence and the ability to fire automatic weapons. Yeah. Their storyline was scrapped but it apparently got much farther along in production than anyone realized.

As another pointed out, this would actually be a decent concept if it wasn’t attached to the Jurassic Park franchise. While the broader tropes of “Man as God” are shared, the whole mutant human scene is a bit played out at this point.

Thanks for that Morreau!
