Joss Whedon Reveals A Female Member Will Likely Join The Avengers In A Sequel

Speaking to EW, director of the critical and commercial smash hit The Avengers Joss Whedon revealed that if he returns to direct the inevitable sequel that we’ll likely see another female character join Black Widow on the roster. But who could this be? Whedon previously said that he initially tried to include Wasp in the movie, but it didn’t work. It’s highly likely that, considering an Ant-Man movie is in active development and the couple have been Avengers since issue #1, and the fact that Ultron is a must for the sequel, Wasp is who he is talking about. But if Marvel want to go cosmic even further it could be Ms. Marvel, who is a SHIELD agent with Kree powers. There are other options, of course, such as Scarlett Witch (even though she’s the daughter of Magneto Marvel Studios can use her as long as they don’t mention her, um, origin) and Mockingbird, but the first two options I suggested are way more likely. Who do you think should be added to the roster in The Avengers II, and do you want to see either Ms. Marvel or Wasp in it? Sound off below.
