Twitch reports that Fox has offered Jessica Biel (Blade Trinity, Total Recall) the role of Viper in The Wolverine, and while there’s a few characters with that name in the Marvel Universe, the most well known one is that of Madame Hydra, but she’s all tied up in the Captain America mythos (although she has tangled with Wolverine and the X-Men in the past). However, Deadline is saying she’s actually been cast in the movie so I’ll take that as confirmation as the latter site is more reliable.
Viper is described as “a complex character who at one point was a peer of Logan’s as well as an enemy. She was a major player in criminal organization Hydra and, in one story arc, blackmailed Logan/Wolverine into marrying her.” Last year the character of Viper was also made known to the interwebz, when she was revealed as “the Caucasian secretary for Japan’s Minister of Justice,” so it’s possible this is an entirely new character for the movie.
