Deadline reports that Australian actor Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Lawless, Dawn of The Planet of The Apes, White House Down, The Great Gatsby) is in talks to take the role of John Connor in Terminator: Genesis, which is expected to be directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World). Tom Hardy (Inception, Dark Knight Rises) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy) were among the other actors being looked at to play John, there’s no word on if Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Lone Survivor, Savages) or Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men Days of Future Past) are still in the mix for Kyle Reese. The film is expected to begin production in January with a release date of July 1st, 2015.
Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Brie Larson (21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim) are still in the mix for the part of Sarah Connor, the site pointing out that Clarke is currently the front-runner. They also confirm that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be returning for the film, it’s been rumored he’ll play a human close to the Connor family. The actor playing the new terminator hasn’t been announced but there were rumblings Dwayne Johnson was being considered for the role.
