Yahoo! is reporting that former White Stripes frontman Jack White will be writing and recording an original score for the movie, Disney’s The Lone Ranger, set to hit theaters May 13, 2013.
White, who is also a member of The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, just released his first studio album this week.
This is an interesting and somewhat redeeming point for the film, starring Armie Hammer as the masked do-gooder, and Johnny Depp(featuring Dead- Bird -on- Head) as Tonto, the Native American sidekick. I think there was a collective “WTF?!” toward Depp’s choice in headgear for the role.
The Lone Ranger is currently in production, helmed by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinksi. Expect more details on the film to appear soon. We’ll keep you posted.
