Is UNIVERSAL courting JIM CARREY for KICK-ASS 2?

You read that right fanboys and fangirls, apparently Universal is looking to get a little Jim Carrey action in the next Kick-Ass flick.

Here’s the details, courtesy of Deadline:

I am not sure he’s going to say yes, but Jim Carrey is being courted by Universal to play a showy supporting role in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall, the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s crazy superhero movie. The character is called The Colonel, and he helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil. The sequel brings back Chloe Moretz, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Nicolas Cage. Carrey is a big fan of Matthew Vaughn and his originalKick-Ass film.

It’s definitely an interesting development but hiring actors that are fans of a franchise has gone badly before (see 2003’s Daredevil and Ben Affleck to understand what I mean).  Than being said I actually have a lot of respect for Jim Carrey and he’s certainly got the acting prowess and comedic timing to pull this off.

But what do you guys think?  Is the ex-Riddler a good fit for this movie universe or will casting him be a colossal mistake?  Sound off with your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
