Is Cthulhu in Prometheus, Or Is That A Damn Space Octopus?

A recent trailer for Ridley Scott’s ooey gooey sci-fi thriller Prometheus just crashed onto the great shores of the internet, and a few over eager web surfers quickly dismantled the forty second clip, revealing a really curious situation. Before I dive any further, check it out for yourself below. Oh, I guess I should warn you with an obligatory SPOILER ALERT!!!

Now that you’ve seen the pics, what do you think it could be? Amidst all the film’s allusions to folklore and mythology, I can’t help but hope that this tentacled beastie is a silver screen adaptation of Cthulhu… or at least a bit of a tribute to that big ol’ fishy. But, when I gave my fanboy mind a chance to think reasonably, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is probably an unsuited Space Jockey, which may be even cooler.
