Warner Bros’/Legendary’s reboot of Godzilla with Monsters director Gareth Edwards at the helm is moving along at a swift pace, and now the studio has brought in Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce to make some final polishes on the script before casting begins in a month. A release date was set a few weeks back, and will hit screens May 16th, 2014. WB formally announced the movie at SDCC back in July, along with a poster and a test reel of footage showing Godzilla blowing shit up. Pearce is also working on the screenplay for WB’s third Sherlock Holmes movie.
There is apparently no problems with the script, but one of the reasons for the rewrite is to help fit the age of the characters in the script for the actors they’re currently looking at to play those roles. Stay tuned to UTF next month as by then we should be getting casting news. The movie has had three previous writers, including David Goyer (a blockbuster regular), who wrote Batman Begins.
