Hmm, Johnny Depp’s Tonto Looks A Lot Like A Certain Pirate

Yesterday we received the very first image from Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp’s newest Disney epic, The Lone Ranger, and the fan response has been pretty… ‘meh’. While the movie itself has been bogged down in production hell for the better part of a year, the buzz surrounding the project was always pretty good. After all, Verbinski was the man responsible for directing the first three Pirates of the Caribbean flicks, which have grossed almost $3 billion by themselves, so the prospect of starting another genre franchise with Disney was promising. But this first photo was really a hype kill, just check it out for yourself.

See what I mean? And does anyone else think that Johnny Depp’s Tonto looks a little too much like Captain Jack Sparrow? I still have a ton of faith in this flick, but this picture didn’t help it any.
