I hate to be ‘that’ guy, but we totally called this months ago. Seriously. In March 2013 we wrote an article titled “I’m Calling It Now, Dane DeHaan Is HOBGOBLIN in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2”, and it looks like we were right.

According to a recent bit of leaked storyboard art, Harry Osborn transforms into the Green Goblin or Hobgoblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Which is a bit of inverted storytelling, as Norman Osborn (Harry’s Father) has always been the grand progenitor of the Goblin heritage. This particular plot point eluded our super secret Sony scoopsters, who were unable to confirm the veracity of the initial rumors, but this snippet of storyboard art settles the matter in plain fashion.

Harry Osborn, played by Chronicle’s Dane Dehaan, probably shares more story threads with Marvel’s Ultimate Comics version of the character than the traditional 616 Universe, the latter of which Sam Raimi utilized for his Spidey trilogy. In the Ultimate iteration of Harry Osborn, the disgruntled son is poisoned by his father, and transformed into an orange beasty known as Hobgoblin. Eventually Papa and Sonny Goblin battle until Harry’s mortal forms poops out. That particular run produced a few manly tears from my eye holes, but as a fan of Marc Webb’s new Spider-Man flicks, that fight would actually transfer really well to the big screen. Can it be our emotional low in the third movie?
