Harrison Ford’s Character of Choice

Harrison Ford has announced that he is unsure whether or not he will reprise the role of Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII. In an interview with Graham Norton, Ford said that he has “not quite made the choice” about the idea. I have no idea why this is news. Honestly he has been saying stuff along these lines since it was announced Episode VII was going to come out.

Something else that he said in the interview is what caught my attention. Ford was asked about playing another one of his classic characters. Here are a couple hints; it wasn’t Blade Runner (though it is rumored to be getting a sequel), and he has already played him 4 times. Oh, and there is a big picture of it at the top of this article. That’s right, Ford wants to bring Indiana Jones back.

I would do it in a New York minute, yes. I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart. I’m old enough that we don’t need (Sean) Connery any more. I’m old enough to play my own father! -Harrison Ford

The idea of a fifth movie staring Indy, while interesting, is a horrifying thought after the debacle that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Though even after that movie, I would go see Shia LaBeouf and Ford have a crazy, snake-filled adventure without a second thought.

If Ford is willing to repriseRick Deckart and Indy, I am confused why he won’t play Han Solo again. Maybe he believes that there is no where to go but down with Han, or maybe he is scared he won’t do it justice. I trust Mr. Ford to know what’s best for his most recognizable character, but I hope that we see Han again.
