Hans Zimmer (or as I like to call him, Danny Elfman 2.0) is the much celebrated grooves’ smith of Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy and Man of Steel, so we’ve all assumed he’ll compose the score for Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman.

Well, it turns out that little assumption is (thankfully) truer than we realized. While Hans Zimmer hasn’t officially been hired for the gig, he admits that he’s thought heavily on the subject. In fact, he’s actually debated whether he’d create a brand new Batman theme for Ben Affleck, or allow the series to inherit he’s classic bass driven overture from The Dark Knight.

Here’s what Hans Zimmer said:

This is really complicated for me. We all went, ‘Okay, we’re done with Batman’ and now it’s sort of getting smuggled back in. I have to have a think about that one. I might give you a new Batman if I do it.

While I’m sure we’re all certainly fans of the original Nolan theme, I think it’s time to cut all ties to that classic trilogy. Zimmer, make us a completely new beat, filled with banging bass drops and sweet warbles.

I’m joking, of course. Although, I’d actually enjoy a more fantastical take on the character, similar to Danny Elfman’s score from Tim Burton’s Batman films. A bit less “modern thriller” and a bit more “fantasy superhero”.
