Halle Berry’s always been the biggest proponent for bringing a proper Storm in the X-Men flicks. Now, I’m not sure if this is because she’s such a huge fan of the classic, strong commander of the muties, or because she wanted to feed her ego and shine as a main character on screen, but either way, she fought for what we few fanboys desired. Well, she’s returned to the role of resident African Goddess in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and she’s brought along a brand new suit.
Not dissimilar to her original garb in Bryan Singer’s first two flicks, this new outfit is a step in the wrong direction for canon loyalists. One of the biggest complaints from neckbearded X-fans was the lack of yellow and blue tights, and where the previous installment in the series ventured in that direction (remember, First Class featured that color scheme on kevlar suits), Storm’s new suit is an indication that we’ve reverted to the old, Singer way of doing things.
But it’s not all bad. The director’s promised to forego leather… so at least we won’t be burdened by that awful, ubiquitous superhero garb.
Acting as a sequel to both X-Men: First Class and 2006′s X-Men: The Last Stand, the third film in the series, Days of Future Past includes cast members from both: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore return from the original trilogy, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult return from X-Men: First Class. Hugh Jackman, the only actor to have appeared in each of the previous X-Men films, will reprise his role as Wolverine. Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart and Fan Bingbing round out the film’s principal cast. Principal photography began in April 2013 in Montreal, Canada with filming wrapping in October 2013. The film is being shot in 3D.
