Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently filming a pretty epic fight scene between Steve Rogers and the Winter Soldier out in broad daylight, but instead of it being our first official glimpse at his new costume for the movie, he’s fighting in street clothes. Yesterday concept art for the new outfit leaked and it had a very distinct lack of the red, white and blue, while some clever fans noticed that it was pretty much the same as his Steve Rogers: Super Soldier costume from the comics, as you can see below:
Quite a few fans didn’t like the costume (personally I liked it), so this piece of news should be pretty damn pleasing for them. JoBlo have managed to get the juicy details on Cap’s outfit in the highly-anticipated movie, some details that will make fans of Joe Johnston’s original version of the classic outfit in Captain America: The First Avenger very happy. This is quite spoilerific so if you want to remain clean look away now, but if not continue on below…
“This is Cap’s S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform (obviously) but for circumstances unknown (either it getting destroyed or Cap hating it), at some point in the film, Steve breaks into the Smithsonian and steals back his 40’s uniform. So for all of us that loved the Johnston suit, Captain America will be back in it by the end of the movie. Sort of takes the sting away from this lameness.”
While I thought it was pretty obvious that this would be his SHIELD uniform, the part about Rogers breaking into the Smithsonian to take back his old costume from the war is just so damn awesome. There will surely be a lot of emotion and nostalgia surrounding that scene for him, since he’s more than likely fighting Winter Soldier with it – what’s more tear-jerking than fighting your best-friend-turned-soviet-assassin in your old war costume you fought with him in?
What do you think? Are you happy with how the costume’s turning out in Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Share your thoughts below.
