THR reports that F. Gary Gray has returned to direct video game adaptation Kane And Lynch for Millennium Films. The project is alive thanks to the fact that Gerard Butler is circling the lead role of Kane. Butler recently scored box office cache with Olympus Has Fallen and is returning for it’s sequel London Has Fallen. Gray worked with Gerard on the thriller Law Abiding Citizen. Vin Diesel has been offered the role of Kane’s murderous schizophrenic partner Lynch. They do mention it’s too early to tell if Vin will sign-on. Originally, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to star with Simon Crane set to direct. Budget and scheduling conflicts led the project to be put on hold. The movie has a script from Skip Woods (Swordfish, A-Team, Sabotage) and Kyle Ward (Machete Kills).

“The game follows Kane, a death row inmate who, along with a schizophrenic killer named Lynch, is sprung from prison to retrieve a stolen fortune. Kane travels to Los Angeles, Japan and Cuba, with Lynch acting as the team’s watchdog in order to save his wife and daughter.”

I’m actually excited at the prospect of Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel teaming-up for an action flick like this. Considering how Bruce Willis is only concerned about paydays rather than performances. I wouldn’t be as enthused with him in the lead role. Plus, Jamie Foxx is usually underused in these films anyways. Diesel could really use this opportunity to step back from both Riddick and Furious. Since he hasn’t much success doing action outside of those two franchises. A second game focused on pair running a muck in Shanghai, China.
