Gareth Edwards Says Hello From the GODZILLA Set, Plus First Images Pop up

GODZILLA started filming yesterday in Vancouver. It was a truly monumental day since we’ve been waiting for it since 2009. As with most movies, set images tend to pop up quick. Over at Godzilla-Movies and YVRShoots, the first few photos have been leaked online. It’s safe to say the opening scene will be pretty monstrous.

Yes that is a destroyed helicopter!

How about a set video also from Godzilla-Movies of the destroyed helicopter?

And earlier today Legendary had posted on their Facebook page saying they ‘would have a special message from the set.’ Sadly it wasn’t anything huge, (like that SDCC teaser) it was director Gareth Edwards. Check out the video below.

Putting aside my initial disappoint that there wasn’t anything big, (seriously, why haven’t they released that teaser?) it’s a pretty neat video. If you look in the background you’ll see that Japan will in one way or another be part of the movie. What does that mean? Will Godzilla destroy Tokyo? Will our characters travel there? Many more questions without answers. One thing’s for sure, the ball is rolling now. I think we’ll see a short teaser in front of Pacific Rim.

Also, from CTV News comes this fun video (despite them using clips from the 1998 abomination) showing what the residents of Vancouver think about this whole thing. (It also gives us a good glimpse of some nuclear missiles.)

Don’t forget to ‘like’ the official Facebook page for the film.

GODZILLA will stomp into theaters once again on May 16th next year.

Daniel (@Destroyer_199) is a huge GODZILLA fan and eagerly looking forward to the movie.
