Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa is looking to take a role in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel Batman Vs Superman according to THR. Momoa is in talks for an unnamed role but the trade speculates it could be Doomsday or Martian Manhunter. There have been rumblings that Metallo could be the villain, but there are plenty of roles yet to be cast that Jason could be looked at for as well, which might include Lex Luthor and The Flash. If cast, Jason would join Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot as production begins this February with a release date of July 17th, 2015. Variety has also heard from sources the role could be Doomsday or Martian Manhunter.

It’s unclear whom Momoa will play due to the Kryptonite lock on the project’s details. There’s been speculation that the movie’s villain could be Doomsday, a Kryptonian scientifically engineered into an intergalactic killing machine. Doomsday famously “killed” Superman in the comics, which became a media event in 1992. The character’s existence is even hinted in the extras of the Man of Steel Blu-ray.

However, a source speculated that if Warners is populating the movie with members of the Justice League, Momoa could also play the Martian Manhunter, a super-powered alien trapped on Earth. Momoa, with his muscular physique, could be a fit for either character.

You might remember that Jason was once in the mix to play Drax The Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy, only to lose the role to Dave Batista. He’s been most notable for his television work on Stargate: Atlantis and Game of Thrones, while his film work has seen him take up action roles in Conan The Barbarian and comic book film Bullet To The Head. Jason has the right swagger to pull off someone like Doomsday but it’s unknown if that will be the villain of the film.

It’s possible that the two trades were just told that the character was a large alien character, without giving specific names as we’re seeing two names rather than one. Actors do tests for more than one character but it seems unlikely that they’d have both Martian Manhunter and Doomsday in the already crowded character lineup. One Superman villain that was previously linked but hasn’t been mentioned is Lobo, the violent alien bounty-hunter had his own solo film being developed at Warner Bros., where Watchmen actor Jeffrey Dean-Morgan was in talks for the role. The character is known for being a Justice League villain which could be a reason the three have to work together against a common enemy.
