G.I. Joe Retaliation pushed to March 2013?!

In a shocking but not entirely surprising move, Paramount Pictures has announced the postponement of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, by nine months!

That’s right, the anticipated sequel that was looking to be an excellent follow up the abysmal but fun G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has been held back from its June 29th releases date to give the movie a 3D conversion.

Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s President and CEO had this to say:

“It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience.”

The new date also prevents the movie from having to go against some stiff competition this summer, but is it really worth it to convert the movie to 3D.  Usually 3D conversion tends to be at best a mix bag, what do you guys think?  Sound off below!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars Ray Stevenson, Byung-hun Lee, D.J. Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson.  The film is directed by Jon M. Chu.
