First STAR WARS Spin-Offs To Be About Yoda And Jabba The Hutt?

As with all rumours, take this with a grain of salt (plus it comes from AICN, so perhaps a pinch would be safer), but Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that the first Star Wars spin-off to hit the big screen will be an origin story for the famous green Jedi, Yoda.

It was previously revealed that Zack Snyder was working on a “Seven Samurai-style” spin-off involving Jedi, and we know Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on separate spin-offs, so this news comes as a bit of a surprise. Additionally, Knowles has also heard rumblings of a movie focusing on the giant slug from the Original Trilogy, Jabba the Hutt, although I doubt that.

“The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA. At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate”.

In all honesty, I’m not sure I want to see more of Yoda, especially if he’s carrying an entire solo film. I and plenty of other fans would prefer for the first set of Disney’s standalone features to feature new characters, stories and settings – instead of re-treading previous ground.

What do you think? Would you like to see a Star Wars spin-off based on the little green fella? Share your thoughts below.
