Evangeline Lilly Was Almost in Joss Whedon WONDER WOMAN

Evangeline Lilly was in talks to star in the Joss Whedon WONDER WOMAN movie according to the latest bit of gossip from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug actress. While discussing her evil-fighting efforts as the Sylvan elf Tauriel, she not so tactfully described her relationship with the long forgotten 2005 Wonder Woman film, stating:

I actually went in and met on Wonder Woman at one point,” Lilly told MTV News. “Before the thing fell apart. That was early, that was first season of ‘LOST’ before I went, wait a minute, I don’t know if I want to do this!”

While she didn’t plainly state that this version of the Amazonian princess was the one Joss Whedon crafted (as opposed to the failed 2006 Justice League Mortals project which cast Megan Gale as Wonder Woman), the time frame certainly matches.

I’ve never actually considered Evangeline Lilly a badass heroine, especially since her role on LOST was relegated to a love triangle’s center. But after watching her CGI aided karate kicks and a few well placed cranium shots with her trusty Mirkwood bow & arrow in Desolation of Smaug, I think she’d make a fine Wonder Woman. Sure, she’s not as “exotic” as one would expect an Amazonian Princess (because Evangeline Lilly’s white as white can be) but she’s a fun actress to watch on the big screen. I can only hope Gal Gadot’s got a bit of Lilly’s passion when she suits up as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman.
