DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Will Be THE AVENGERS of X-Men

That’s what the resident Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, said when he first read the plot synopsis for DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

“I was like, ‘Okay, this is a slam-dunk idea. This, actually, is phenomenal. I think this will be, for X-Men, like The Avengers.’ And I think it is…”

Sounds pretty damn exciting, right? Well, that is if you ignore the fact that Marvel Studios first carefully created an individual film for each of its core members in THE AVENGERS, instead of lumping them all together in the same flick from the very beginning. In which case, DAYS OF FUTURE PAST sounds exactly like every other X-Men flick: the story of a badass Jew fighting his bald friend while a pointy fingered Canadian runs around getting into mischief with some kids.

Which isn’t entirely bad, mind you, but certainly not the same as The Avengers.

Although, as long as we get to see a bit of this action, I’ll be more than happy…

Acting as a sequel to both X-Men: First Class and 2006′s X-Men: The Last Stand, the third film in the series, Days of Future Past includes cast members from both: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore return from the original trilogy, while James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult return from X-Men: First Class. Hugh Jackman, the only actor to have appeared in each of the previous X-Men films, will reprise his role as Wolverine. Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart and Fan Bingbing round out the film’s principal cast. Principal photography began in April 2013 in Montreal, Canada with filming wrapping in October 2013. The film is being shot in 3D.
