DAVID TENNANT Thinks He’s The Perfect Age To Play REED RICHARDS

David Tennant’s just appeased Doctor Who geeks all over the globe by returning to the series in its 50th Anniversary Special this year, and it looks like he’s doing another bit of fan service by announcing his interest in playing Reed Richards in a Fantastic Four movie. Well, I suppose it wasn’t really an “announcement”… more of a passing comment, but that’s more than enough to rile me into a mild call to arms. Tennant for FF!

Here’s his full musing:

“I don’t know which ones I would suit, really. I can’t imagine who I could play. I’m a bit old for a lot of them now, which is a terrible, alarming truth. Who could I be? I could probably still do Reed Richards – Mr. Fantastic. I don’t know. Villains are always great. I’d be very happy to do a bit of that. They’re the one growth industry in movies, at the moment, so it would be nice to do one, I suppose, as either the good guy or the bad guy. The bad guys probably get the better lines, don’t they? And they wear less spandex. That would be quite good.”

Not as climatic as I made it sound, is it? Still, he’d make a great Richards, and since Fox is well under way producing a reboot to that franchise, now’s the perfect time to start a campaign.

And regarding age… shush that little mouth of yours, Tennant. You’re a time lord! Age is meaningless. Anyway, I hear there’s a 50 year old actor who’s currently the #1 superhero on the face of the planet, which makes your meager 41 solar rotations seem childish.

Old and fabulous
