Superman actor Henry Cavill wants to recruit the half-man, half-robot superhero Cyborg for future DC films. This isn’t much of a surprise, considering Cavill’s natural Kryptonian predilections for metal men. After all, he does have a veritable horde of artificial Supermen in his Fortress of Solitude.
Here’s the full quote from our favorite Metropolis beefcake:
What really intrigued me was Dr. Emil Hamilton’s connection to S.T.A.R. Labs. Cyborg I think would make a wonderful character and an incredible bridge between both superhumans and humanity in a different way to Batman. So I don’t know where he’s going to come in or if he’s going to come in, but that’s one I’m particularly excited about. Other references I’m not too sure on, but we’ll see where those lead. Those with keen eyes will see them.”
I’m sure Cyborg could possibly appear in Batman vs Superman, as Zack Snyder sounds like he’s stuffing that flick with every JL cameo he can find, BUT… I think it’s much more likely that Cyborg will appear in a Justice League movie first.
I wish Cavill would’ve hinted at a particular actor he wants to see in the part. If DC were to cast Cyborg young, then they’ve an entire pool of youthful, well known talent to choose from, but if they want a slightly older version of the character, then they’d be limited in their options. I’m personally hoping for Donald Glover. The dude’s incredibly talented… and I really don’t want him to play Miles Morales on the big screen. However unlikely that Spidey casting might be, a Glover-Cyborg would almost guarantee that Glover won’t play Morales.
