Cast and Crew Revealed for Superman: Unbound DTV film

Superman: Unbound, an upcoming animated DTV film based off the Superman: Brainiac comic arc written by DC writer Geoff Johns, finally has a cast and crew behind it.

Superman will be voiced by Matt Bomer, best known for playing the protagonist, Neal Caffrey, in the TV series White Collar. Superman’s cousin, Supergirl, will be voiced by Molly Quinn, best known as the character Alexis Castle in Castle. She also voices Bloom in Winx Club.

Superman’s girlfriend, Lois Lane, will be voiced by Stana Katic, who plays Kate Beckett in Castle. She also voiced Talia al Ghul in Batman: Arkham City. Main antagonist Brainiac will be voiced by John Noble, whose most popular roles are Denethor in Lord of the Rings, and Walter Bishop in Fringe. He also voiced Unicron in Transformers: Prime.

James Tucker (Legion of Superheroes, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) will be directing, supervising, and designing the characters. Bob Goodman is the screenwriter, Andrea Romano (DCAU, Thundercats) is the voice director, and Kevin Kliesch is the composer.

In the original comic, Superman must face genius alien Brainiac, who plans on destroying Earth. Meanwhile, he has to deal with some drama involving Lois Lane and Supergirl. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray sometime this year.

I’m pretty excited for this. So far, all the previous Superman DTVs (Superman: Doomsday, Superman vs. the Elite, All-Star Superman) have been pretty awesome, and put the live-action films to shame. Will this film beat Man of Steel? We shall see.
