Katee Sackhoff In Talks With Marvel Studios. CAPTAIN MARVEL?

Several weeks, “Battlestar Galactica” alum Katee Sackhoff expressed interest in playing Harley Quinn in a future DC Movie, jokingly saying she’d “sell her first-born” for the role. Well, DC may not have a role for her right now, but does Marvel?

On a recent episode of the Schmoes Knows Podcast, Sackhoff suggested that Marvel had been in contact with her about possibly working for them.

There’s been some stuff going on. There’s been a lot of checking of availability. … I don’t quite know exactly… There’s been a lot of questions about the first quarter of next year.

This aligns very closely with another piece of Marvel news that came out today. Talking with ComingSoon.net, Marvel producer Louis D’Esposito stated that Marvel is thinking about doing a solo female superhero film, although this would take some time to get the ball rolling. While he didn’t say who they had in mind, he did suggest a Carol Danvers movie as a possibility. Danvers is best known in her Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel personas.

Rumor or not, I think Sackhoff would do great as a female superhero, especially as Carol Danvers. She’s an actor who is experienced playing strong women, and with her new movie “Riddick” coming out today, general audience goers will be exposed to playing the action-type role.

Except for Black Widow, Marvel hasn’t utilized any of their female superhero characters. Maybe it’s just me, but I think we’re ready for a female superhero film, and since Marvel seems to trailblazing when it comes to superhero movie innovation, why not have them do it? Plus, if Carol Danvers is used as a lead character, maybe they will introduce her in Avengers 2 and prep her for a solo adventure in one of their Phase 3 movies.

Either way, I’ll take anything just to see Sackhoff kick ass in one of these super hero movies.
