BATMAN V SUPERMAN: True Purpose of Superman Statue Revealed

Last week, Unleash The Fanboy reported on leaked images of a partially constructed Superman statue (via Batman-News) on the Michigan film set of Batman v Superman.

Well, now Batman-News is reporting that the Superman statue was used in a press conference scene shot on Friday, complete with an unveiling of the statue for all to see. And yes, this confirms that the statue was built to commemorate our savior, Henry Cavill Superman, who as we all know prevented genocide in Man of Steel.

Our editor noted in a previous article that they expect Superman to play a role similar to the one Spider-Man had in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 where he is adored by all but a select few. J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man’s case and Lex Luthor in Superman’s case. This theory is supported by the fact that children wearing “Superman Survivor” shirts were present at the press conference scene.

Given that the statue was still missing a head and other various body parts, it means that it will be completed in post-production with CGI.

Reportedly, Batman v Superman will take place two years after the events of Man of Steel which could allow for some superheroes to have popped up since then after being inspired by Superman ala The New 52.

The presence of media helicopters and vehicles from both Metropolis and Gotham was also reported, which suggests that Gotham will have some good amount of presence in the film. This is what we think: Lex Luthor will be watching the press conference, seething with xenophobic rage and simultaneously, Bruce Wayne (in Gotham) is, too. And they will be portrayed as the only two who distrust Superman (other than the military).

Batman-News also reported that the Batmobile’s doors may open up like wings, which might suggest that the vehicle has the potential to take to the skies.

Keep it Unleash The Fanboy for everything Superman. And that other guy, too.
