BATMAN V SUPERMAN is Apparently GREAT!

Don’t worry, you haven’t missed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Man of Steel got a pretty mixed reception from fanboys and fangirls and fans of other sexual orientations (and critics); while the sequel looks fucking awesome, there is that little nagging feeling in the back of my head that it’s gonna be disappointing like last time. However, if Den of Geek is on the mark then I and many others can put those murdering-Zod-induced fears to rest.

According to an industry source who will remain anonymous, a cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was screened for the film’s crew and Warner bosses within the past 24 hours or so. “It’s a near finished cut but not locked,” our source tells us.

That screening was, we’re told, a glowing success – to the point where Zack Snyder’s movie received a “standing ovation”.

Holy shit.

Batman-Superman-Batfleck

The last time we heard about a Warner Bros movie getting a standing ovation was when a rough cut of The Dark Knight Rises was screened; the weakest of the trilogy but still a bloody great movie. This bodes incredibly well for Dawn of Justice. But wait – there’s more!

The highlight of the film is, apparently, Batfleck. Yup, you read that right. The guy who received a shedload of fan hate when he was cast is supposedly so good that his deal is being extended to three solo movies rather than just the one. This is good fucking news. I’m a huge Affleck fan and his Batman seemed to finally be the definitive adaptation, which it apparently is in WB’s mind who are “now working their movie universe around Ben’s Batman.” That quote may sound like things will be getting too Batman-centric, but bear in mind that this is entirely provisional. Aquaman could end up being a breakout star and his role blows up for all we know.

As always, take this stuff with a grain of salt, but if it’s true then DC have done it. They will have launched an entire universe in two movies and gotten to the same place Marvel did in six. Zack Snyder will have successfully juggled a Man of Steel sequel, Batman’s, Wonder Woman’s, Cyborg’s (remember he’s in the movie?) and Aquaman’s introduction as well as expanding on Batsy’s past with Robin, and the further expansion of the DC Universe by setting up Justice League and a host of other important characters. That’s a really fucking tough job and I’m frankly amazed that Snyder’s pulled it off.

With seven months left until it hits theaters, there’s still tons of time for tweaks and adjustments to make the movie even better. I am so hyped.
